Email for a buddy.

Just sent this to a friend, bunch of bands in my recent downloads folder, many of them not recent mind you, haven't cleaned it out in awhile.

Some bands I've been listening to lately.

Akron/Family, folk-influenced experimental rock very hippy, very communal, very dank.
Andrew Jackson Jihad, variously classified as indie rock, anti-folk, and Americana, two main members and shifting backups, "Love Song" is so great. Has alot of albums, I recommend "Candy Cigarettes and Cap Guns" for an intro.
Architecture in Helsinki, Very indie, Fingers Crossed album is slower and more mellow some songs almost Postal Servicey, Places Like This is a lot more up tempo seriously channeling the B-52's fun listen.
Boris, Crazy Japanese prog rock, girl guitarist shreds harder than anyone I've seen.
Caribou, not sure how to describe them, check out the album Andorra
Crystal Castles, Duo performing 8bit videogame dance, very awesome.
Dead Meadow, awesome stoner rock, sounds a bit like pink floyd if syd had stayed and they all kept doing drugs. Check out the Self Titled.
El Guincho, Mexican animal collective. Pretty much says it all. Very fun.
Gojira, French death metal that loves the environment and sings about it. I've only listened to their newest "The way of all Flesh" track Art of Dying is epic.
Health, awesome DJ.
Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains, Folk hobo rock. I haven't found any albums, only a few live recordings, "Acid Song" is stand out track. http://www.archive.org/details/jhatft2005-03-03.flac16
Liars, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liars_(band) I'd highly recommend getting both Drums Not Dead and Liars, totally different sounding, Fins to Make us More Fish Like is a great EP, on a whole 'nother level.
Man Man, crazy rock, check out the album Rabbit Habbits.
Old Crow Medicine Show, Straight Tennessee blue grass, performed by 20 something indie rockers. Tennessee Pusher came out this year and is super dank, O.C.M.S. is also super.
Om, super stoner doom music, bassist and a drummer, very long drawn out songs, get real high and listen to Pilgrimage.
Punkin' Pie, one off Pop-Punk project by some members of the acoustic punk band Rosa. Top quality.
The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Spacegirl is my girl's favorite album, all of them are good. Also my girl's favorite band. Check out the Docu, Dig!
Black Moth Super Rainbow, super happy synth/noise, very good listen. They did an album with Austin band Octopus Project.
This Bike is A PipeBomb, Florida three piece folk punk. Check out "Dance Party With..."
Wolf Parade, essential Indie Rock.
Wolves in the Throne Room, AWESOME black metal. Been listening to their newest "Two Hunters" almost non-stop.
Tilly and the Wall, just listen, reminds me of Defiance, Ohio but with female singers.

Ever get the feeling you're being used?

What do you do about something like that? Do you confront the issue, or just hang on for the ride and see where it goes? I'm normally a "go with the flow" type of person, but in this case the possibility of being used is toying with my emotions so I'm not sure if that is the correct path to take. She says she wants to be with me when we're old, but I get the feeling lately that its more of just a convenience 'til I can be dropped and moved on from with ease. I just don't understand her actions of late...

Health

Wasn't just some lame class I got to skip in highschool. Or a dope ass DJ. Apparently, its some kind of thing you actually need to worry about, or take care of, or keep in good. Or something like that.
I'm not looking forward to my next dentist appointment, I don't really mind dentist visits, but I know there's bad news waiting for me there. On top of that, I need to see a real doctor for a check up, and two other unrelated health things. I'm kinda nervous about those two things I need to go to different types of doctors entirely for. I just don't want bad news and thought I'd vent in preperation. Wish me luck!

Feelings...

1. What made you happy this week? Kiki finally figuring out what she wanted and letting me take her back.
2. What made you sad? Finding out Kiki had betrayed me in the time we were apart.
3. What made you angry? Some stupid guy.
4. What are you looking forward to in the next week? My folks leaving for Thanksgiving. Powow maybe?
5. What are you not looking forward to? My parents coming back.

A few last thoughts

Not quite last thoughts as I plan to lay down some serious shit in my next post, but close enough anyways.

First let me start off by apologizing to everyone I ever wronged. Whatever the situation, I let you down in some way and I shouldn't have, so I'm sorry. I hope you managed to get over it and continue on your great journey.
To those I ever hated, I just want you to know that it wasn't you that let me down, I let myself down to succumb to hate. I love you and I wish you the best of luck in this fucked up world. (And that segues nicely into my final thought):
Love Everybody Its much easier said then done let me tell you. But I want you(whomever you may be) to give it a real try. Some people make it really hard I know, but you can always find something to love, so cherish that and don't dwell on the downside of life. Everybody includes Mother Earth, the Universe and even yourself. Because when you get right down to it, God is Love and that is why you must love everybody. Because we are all connected and its not up to you to break the chain by choosing not to love. You Must Love! Love spins the earth around the sun, Love keeps your heart beating and your cells from dying, Love is everywhere and everything. If humanity is going to save itself from assured destruction, everyone must love everyone. Please people, do it for me. Learn from my mistakes.
Despite my best efforts I still cannot love myself enough to truly love everyone. This is why I failed at love, true love, my soulmate, I found her(a rare feat) but I broke the chain and in doing so commited the most heinous crime of my life. So I don't deserve that love anymore. And this is why I fail at life. I broke the chain and disconnected myself from what is truly good about being alive.
Don't break the chain! Please Love Everybody.

Thats really all I have to say for this awful morning. At least one, maybe two more updates in the next 48 hours.

Love,

Loss of Faith

When all of life's a sham, nothing goes according to your plan. You try and you try, only to cry and cry. Things don't go your way, sometimes I just want to die.

I've put this big space between me and my lover. I don't think there is anything I can do to get things back together. I just don't understand what's behind those beautiful caring eyes. I imagine I'll sleep alone again tonight. I just don't understand the cold shoulder I always feel towards me now. It would be different if she would give up on me like she should, she refuses to, but then doesn't want to see me.

I'm just lost. Hopefully soon I'll find my way proper. Until then, I'm a dead man.

Insomnia

So here I am, its almost 6 in the morning and I still can't sleep. My beautiful girlfriend is laying in bed next to me and I wish more then anything right now I was sleeping comfortably next to her. See, I love sleeping, its one of my favorite activities. It just never comes at quite the appropriate times for me, especially trying to have a day job and generally be a productive citizen.
I apologize for not having written in some time. I generally lack focus lately and haven't been able to channel my thoughts into something appropriate for a blog post. I've hardly been able to channel my thoughts into anything productive at all. I'm heading out to Wyoming at the end of the month for a week of camping and good fun at the National Rainbow Gathering. But unfortunately, then I've got to come back to more of the same. This shitty city really gets me down sometimes, more often lately. Everyone just blindly going about doing the same things that have been destroying us and this planet for the past couple hundred years. I should be getting up for work in the next 2-3 hours, and I'm not sure how thats going to happen. Want to know what I do for a living? I'm a bottom feeder in this oil based economy, I fill my car up with this awful juice and then drive around all day delivering packages. Half the time its medical supplies for home care, but the other half is just boring standard business packages. Its rather at odds with my beliefs and I don't think I'll keep it much longer, its quite depressing.
Things have been pretty crazy and mixed up lately, I've lost some good friends and seen an awkward social atmosphere in the past 2-3 months. I'm only just now wising up and removing myself from the problems. Its really hard for me to be happy here. However, my love is here so I can make due, but this city really weighs on me.
I could go on and on about the conflicts that have been bothering me lately, the only one that seems to be an on-going concern is whether I really, truly think love can conquer all. I feel as if I'm in the deciding battle on this issue and I really do not want to lose. I believe love is the greatest force of all, but sometimes the outcome looks bleak. Not very often at all mind you, but just enough to make me worry. I've already stepped up to the plate and invested my all; so I will not back down or give up ever. But I still worry because I know exactly how great a loss it would be. I'm in it to win it and I get my way often enough to make me confident in my abilities so I really can't lose. But the universe is just cruel enough that if it wanted to it could crush my existence and ideals in one fell swoop.
Let us turn to more positive things though.
Bands I've been listening to of late:
Akron/Family, I can't remember if I already mentioned them, but they are one of the most right on groups I've heard in a good minute.
Crystal Castles, Like video game music/noises? Love this duo.
How's about some Anime if thats more your style?
Tekkonkinkreet, Black And White; Kuro and Shiro Neko. Watch it, it will astound you. And if you haven't seen The Fountain,(not anime) watch that before or after. Beware of the wiki page on that one, all spoiler, I suggest a fresh head. Two pieces that go hand in hand I feel though.
Dennou Coil, great cyberpunk-esque series.
Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei, pure anime/manga hilarity and randomness. A must watch, Followed by Colorful, more zany japanese, only this time instead of a classroom setting, its purely about panties.

And I'll top it all off with a fascinating website to get lost in:

Word up from New York and a Friday Five a day late

http://community.livejournal.com/thefridayfive/
1. Love at First Sight: Fact or Fiction? Fiction, lust at first sight definitely, not true love though.
2. Fortune Telling: Fact or Fiction? I've seen some pretty accurate Tarot Card layouts, perhaps clairvoyance and scrying and whatnot have something to them.
3. Other Life: Fact or Fiction? Fact, altered states of consciousness anyone? Other life
4. Afterlife: Fact or Fiction? Fiction
5. Bigfoot: Fact or Fiction? Fiction. Maybe a yeti, but I dunno bout bigfoot.
--

So today is my sisters wedding to a Tazmanian, should be an interesting day, I'm an usher and official videographer. I was quite upset when I discovered she was getting married the day before my favorite holiday and I would have to be trapped in New York, 2,000 miles from all my friends and most importantly my love. I'm most likely going into the big city tomorrow and gonna try and make the best of the day. There's a free concert in the park and Tokyo Police Club plays that night as well. Hopefully I'll get to spend the day with a couple friends from the wedding and my cooler cousins.
I went into the city yesterday, walked almost 8 miles, mostly wandering around SoHo and Greenwich Village. Went into a bunch of cool stores, got a couple fun art books and some figures from Kid Robot.

Got some great seats to the Yankee's Red Sox game thursday night for the bachelor party. Yankee's lost 5-7 =/. (click for the full panorama) This was one of the last 72 games in the original yankee stadium.
OMG Levi's!
Sorry about the slightly inflammatory nature of my last post. Someone was talking mad shit and I had to air some grievances. I'm past it now though. I'll be back in lame ole San Antone on monday. I can't wait. I've been counting down the hours til I get to see my baby since last night. 52 hours remain. In other good news about my wonderful girlfriend, she scored us some tix to the sold out Liars/Radiohead show in Houston on the 17th. We've got two extra tickets, lemme know if you're interested in purchasing.

Things I've been listening to lately that you should check out:

Man Man - Rabbit Habbits
Liars (all albums)
Paper Moons Scope out the song exist.

I'm also really excited about whats coming down on utorrent right now. Finished downloading the anime Colorful last night, stoked to watch it. Also grabbed Tekkonkinkreet, which I can't wait to watch. I'm snagging the release of the revamped Evangelion, Rebuild 1.0 You are Not alone. Which was a theatrical re-release of the first 6 episodes with some new animation and takes on a few scenes, while others retain their original glory. I can't wait to introduce the gf to the iconic series in a new way, she's clueless of the awesomeness of NGE. She liked watching Sayonara Zetsobu Sensei with me so we'll see what happens. I'm also grabbing two series' at the recommendation of a gamestop manager. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan, and Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion, which just started S2 in Japan. Toki Wo Kakeru Shojo I'm also grabbing which I really know nothing about, thats just how I prefer to watch movies. If you haven't seen Giniro No Kami No Agito at that, go check it out, its amazing. Mmmm, anime.

This one turned out longer then expected.

How bout it internet.

I'd like to start off with a note:
I removed a link I posted here previously pimping my "friend"'s blog where he had posted some of his art for sale. I heard lil bunny fuck fuck(my beautiful sweet love, that's her name.) mention she saw a couple pieces posted up that weren't his to sell. And sure enough I looked and saw at least one that I know he did not have the permission of the other artist or any credit to post that. Also he wanted a decent amount of scrap for mostly paper on paper collage or spray paint on paper, not even any good materials.

I'm on twitter!
https://twitter.com/ntrpe

Life's been pretty damn interesting lately.
This one is a bit long.

Sorry to start out kind've ranty but the proprietor of the aforementioned art has actually been saying too many things of douchebag nature and most of the time just sounding like he's an asshole who really has no idea whats going on in the real world.
In life I really try to avoid as much drama as I can, I don't like to start shit or even talk shit. I prefer to sit back, chill out and have nothing to do with it.
This however is quite the odd twisted tale.
For the past couple months, and actually most of this year, the majority of the drama that reached my ears all seemed to originate from the same apartment. I'd managed to stay out of it and luckily had just been hearing the things down the line so I wasn't directly involved. Not so anymore.
Showing that life has a sense of irony; I enjoyed quite a good friendship with two of the members of this household. Let's call them "the kids." From the beginning of the summer '07 when I met them, up until the beginning of this year. The other roommate however I wasn't very sure I even liked her or not, from when I met her in the beginning of '07, up until a couple months ago. I haven't seen the kids since she moved out yet I've seen her pretty much every day.
I'm not really going to say why I drifted away from the kids, but the male half of them completely changed in the month I was gone and continues to do so. As far as I can see there's no trace of the friend I had. It really sucks to lose a friend and watch them disappear right in front of you. This man has also alienated many of his other friends and blown up on them. I was still pretty surprised when it happened to me next. Friendships are curious things, they take trust, compromise and compatability. The twist her however is that I fell tumbling down the stairs in love with the girl that moved out. But, even when I was chilling with her before she moved out, he snubbed me in the kitchen and never came out of his room.
Life seems so complicated. I'm gonna go a little deeper because I think its pretty interesting. This isn't implicating anyone by name. There was another person who got some retard bombs dropped on him from the same mad bomber before me, someone who'd been friends with him quite longer then I had been. I knew this person, and we were ok friends, just didn't really hang out very much. It was almost quite unfortunate, but this same guy was dating the third roommate when I got back from California in January. I didn't know so soon that she would be perfect for me, but I had a hunch and was pretty sad when I heard this news. Many things happened since then, we ended up getting together and are very happy. He says he's happy for us too, which I don't think is completely true. But since we got together I've become closer friends with him and we've even all hung out a few times. I respect him and hope things are as calm as they seem.

Fortunately for me however I hardly give two shits about most of this this crap in this crappy town I call home. I leave for NYC in a week, I'm quite excited for that adventure. And next month, weather permitting I plan on heading off to Bloomington, Ohio and going on the first great adventure of my life. I've been on a few small practice runs with some good ideas. But I'm talking a true adventure. The only thing that makes it hard to leave is my lovely girlfriend. It does not sound fun one bit to leave her for more then a day. I know the 5 in NYC coming up is gonna be the warmup and I'm not looking forward to it. She lights up my life and takes me to the highest highs. She's said she'll wait for me but its still daunting to be that far away from my babes.

I know these posts are inconsistent at best. I've been getting my head on straight lately and spending most of my time with the sweetest sweetheart ever. One of my goals is to spend more time on the computer, so hopefully I can keep it up.

Peace and love _ntrpe
Gimme a shout out if you're out there.

Backdated post, plus a real update

Feb. 15th 11:42AM
To start off, I'm sorry about the lack of updates. I've been adjusting to being back in San Antonio, and sometimes I just don't care. For so many people in this town, it surprises me how many of them are lifeless drones. I feel the need to get away from here again, however; I don't know where to go or what to do when I get there. I think Bloomington is the next place I wish to travel to. I must wait for it to get warmer though. The weather is pretty nice here in SAtown, especially for February, it was 70 degrees and sunny yesterday for V-day. Which I must admit was probably my best V-day ever. Had a nice lunch at Jason's Deli then lounged around most of the afternoon. Followed by a delicious dinner at Rosario's. Later on I even found a mutual friend who didn't want to sleep alone on Valentine's either. So close to the best part was having a very pretty warm body to lay next to. It even inspired me onto some poetry, which I don't write often enough anymore.

Quiet passions rise
Tensions turn to cold steal
tempered by quiet and secrets
A blade made fine by no hand or hammer of man
Passions Aflame finish the metalurgy
Urges let loose will drive the knife
Straight and true to pierce and wound
tensions temporarily satiated
Yet, sever and set free the tensions, this blade will not.

Actually however, my love life isn't looking too bad at this point. I'm rather content at this impass. Of course, I wish so-and-so didn't have a boyfriend and whatsherface was ready for a relationship as am I. But I am well positioned and wouldn't trade it.

I've got alot of thoughts running through my head, mostly about my future and what my plans are. I am currently happily unemployed, and see it as freedom. But unfortunately that leaves me with alot of extra time I must do something with. I'm going to start the groundwork for my web community and also bulk up on my knowledge that would help procure a more useful job, perhaps at Rackspace?

Well, I'm off to play with the world. I will try and keep up here, keep this place interesting, but alas the place I am in is rather uninteresting.

_ntrpe

----
As A side note, it is now 10 days later from when I wrote this so things are progressing. I haven't seen Whatsherface since V-day, but So-and-so and I are getting along quite well, I think I've got a high chance of being very happy with this one. Things have actually been really well since I typed the above post. Although sometimes its hard to feel connected, or like we're even real, but I may have found someone to keep me on earth, or at the same time, take me to the moon.

I've got a whole mess of links and media I want to start sharing, but I'll just leave you with one today:

Freedom to Fascism is a film by the late patriot Aaron Russo, an award winning filmmaker. His new documentary will probably scare and enlighten you. Did you ever think that the IRS and Income Tax were unconstitutional? Of course not, everyone pays their taxes. You might think differently after viewing this film.

Off the Hook!

Ah, so me and Matt went to a party in Oakland last night. It was an underground rave called "Off the Hook" It was in this tiny little warehouse with two rooms, each with a DJ spinning. By far I liked the music in the back room best. Lots of hardcore, a little happy, some drum and base, tiny bit of breakbeat, mostly hardcore all night, it was the best. I danced my ass off most of the night and met some cool people. Had a blast. Also I've got pics from our adventure into San Francisco the day before, but I think thats another update.

Backpost

Posting from my Uncle Pete's house in Novato, CA. We're waiting on Pete to get here with the moving truck so we can help take some of his stuff to the storage place. He's moving out pretty soon. Today is our day off just sitting around and being lazy. Might go to Berkeley later and see if I can't find someone to hit up my tattoo. Gonna grab some munch.

Here's a couple posts written on the road:

===
Tues. Jan. 8th
1:43pm PST

So here we are, driving again. Jamming out to some classic rock. Making the 6 hour drive from L.A. to San Fran. The final show of the tour was last night, and boy was it badass. The best set so far was at The Glass House record store in Pomona, but all the shows have been freaking awesome. I'll put up a few more videos when we get an internet connection. My Youtube will be inundated with Defiance, Ohio.
Opening before Vena Cava last night was The Max Levine Ensemble, and they really rocked it too. Was really cool to see them, probably won't for a long time. Got to wish a few memebers of Defiance well and good luck in Australia before we left.
I've never done anything like following a band before, and this has got to be one of the best trips ever so far. I'm loving being freewheeling in California, even though gas is a bitch. I don't know what our plans for tonight are, we should be reaching the bay area around 7-8. There's an MSI video shoot in Sacramento tomorrow we might go to, its in the air. We're driving up the 5, through some beautiful hills. Just came into a badass valley. The rain finally let up yesterday and we're hoping it'll stay away until we're gone.
Defiance, Ohio's newest CD: The Fear, The Fear, The Fear is freaking awesome. I first listened to it, and despite sounding a little bland I liked it. But after having seen most of the songs live, it takes on a whole new life. Some of the songs were way better live, but the CD is still awesome. It's FREE on their website, so you don't have any excuse not to check it out.
I've spent alot of time thinking about what I'm doing when I get back to San Antonio. I'm pretty sure I'll still have my job, so thats a slight comfort. Not that I ever really like having a job. I really want to travel more, hop a train or two, just live it up. Bloomington is calling my name ever louder and louder, so I think I need to go check it out. I'm looking forward to the national Rainbow Gathering in July, I've got a bit of experience under my belt and I hope I can get a big group of friends to come make a camp. I really can't wait to get back to my friends in countdown city and regale them with awesome tales of my wondrous journey. And I happen to know a few pretty ladies who are awaiting my return for some nunsy time. Hopefully things will go right with one of them. I only had one relationship this past year, and it was barely two months and not very serious on my part. But I'm looking and I think I may have found a girl worth my time and trust. But thats an unfolding story that waits for another day.

Here's to everyone on the road, here's to friends at home, here's to family and here's to love.
Until next time.

I'm awaiting a 4 patty burger from In-N-Out, we're a little north of San Jose, heading up to Novato. We didn't make it into San Fran today, we got rained on most of the drive which slowed us down a bit. We hung out with Matt's cousin in San Jose and had a chill night. I got presents for friends back in SAtown, so it was a good day all around. As long as you count 8+ hours in the car good. Ok, so i didn't get on, I'll have to post this later. Everyone be safe out there.

Road Signs Always Look Better over your Shoulder!

Posting this from L.A. Heading to Long Beach tonight for the last show. We're on the guest list tonight so that should be rad. Then we travel on. The shows have all been badass so far. A house show, An Art Gallery show, one on UCLA campus, and a record store. The show tonight is at a Warehouse, so it should be dope. I'm gonna tackle the day and update more later.
Safe travels y'all

On the road

So here I am stuck in traffic in California. We're on the road to San Luis Obispo, about 250mi down the coast. We got here late tuesday night and crashed out at Matt's uncles house in Patterson, just south of Oakland. On Wedensday we went to visit his grandma then went to Berekly to wander around. Wandering around on Telegraph was great, we ate this great cafe where I enjoyed a delicous Hummus sandwhich and Matt had some vegetarian chilli. We went to one of the most badass record shops I'd ever been to, it was a bit overwhelming. All the glass was amazing, even the simplest water pipe on display put everything in San Antonio and most of Austin. We got turned away from the local pharmacy and given some sage advice about the area from the doorman. While walking down Telegraph we actually passed by Mike from defiance, it was pretty crazy. The show that night was at The Purple House on Genoa St. It was a pretty righteous community punk house that collectively ran a grocery. We got there to see some of Vena Cava who play most of the other shows with defiance and tbiapb. The guitarist had the most awesome handlebar mustache I'd ever seen. After that defiance started setting up and I squeezed into the front room to get as close as I could. They were pretty much playing on a couple palletes in the corner of this small room, the chandelier was barely a foot above my head. But the set was awesome and everybody loved it. After that This Bike is a Pipe Bomb played a badass set as well. I got a chance to talk to Mike and Will from defiance so it was really cool to meet them and talk to em a bit. I only talked to this one other cat in Arkansas so I still look forward to talking to him again as well. After the show we beat feet to my uncle Pete's in Novato. We got there just as the weather was turning ugly. It seems we're here and doing all our main traveling during the worst storm to hit the coast for a few years. Here's hoping it won't effect next weeks planned camping outing too much. I'm worried we might not make the show, so I'm gonna hop off the 'puter now.

Side note: We did make the show, 1 or 2 songs into TBiaPB's set then Defiance played. Was a great show, I'll have some photos up a lil later. Mike even called us out on traveling with them, it was badass.
